Don’t Forget The Survey, Tel Aviv, Enel 100 & The Swappable Battery

Hi everyone!

Here we are again with yet another update. First of all, an important reminder! About two weeks ago, we’ve asked everyone who has ordered a Linky to fill out this survey to let us know which colors etc. you want. Most of you have already done that, but if you haven’t, please go ahead and do so by clicking here.

For everyone who did fill out the form: thanks! We’ve read all your feedback and suggestions and are working with that. For example, we will shoot a couple of videos showing just how sturdy & water-resistant Linky is! We are also working on an updated FAQs post including all info about after-sales service and warranties, as some of you have asked about that.

Trip to Tel Aviv

Important meetings can be nerve-racking, but when it’s in a beautiful location, it’s not that bad 😉 . Linky went to Tel Aviv, the city with great food, great weather, and definitely a great vibe! There is a mix of surfers, artists and actually lots of electric vehicles like bikes and scooters, so Linky fits right in.

While we were there, we had the chance to meet professional skateboarders Yuli and Jonathan. They gave Linky a try and they loved it! It’s always great to hear real professionals saying that Linky is super fun. After all, if they say it, it must be true 😉

The photoshoot we did with them was right in line with Linky’s values of community and travel: the skateboarders were from Israel, Linky’s Paolo is of course from Italy as was Silvia, and the team was completed with Mirjam from Germany. A cool team + a hot afternoon = great photos!

ENEL 100 Competition

We feel SO proud! ENEL is the most important company that’s dealing with electricity here in Italy and they published a list of the 100 most innovative Italian companies in the electric mobility sector. Linky was one of them! 😀 If you’d like to read it, you can find us on page 124-125 when you click here.

To our Italian readers: if you’d like to know more about the competition, click here.

Swappable Battery

Our final solution for the swappable battery is ready! In order to keep Linky water-resistant (IP65 protected), we needed to make sure that the full compartment is sealed. We managed to do that, while still making it possible to swap the battery in less than five minutes!

Remote Control

As you know, the remote control you’ve seen in pictures so far was just a dummy – the final one will look different! But where do you put the RC when you’re not riding? Well, we worked out a solution. Now, once Linky is folded, there will be a special space where you can put the RC inside Linky. Next week we will show you what that looks like in a video.

Range

Yes, running out of battery is one of your worst nightmares – we know that! That’s why we tested a new lithium ion cell that can provide an increase in the distance covered with a single charge. Best thing: it’s the same weight as the previous battery! We’re now at 17-18 km with a single charge at an average speed of 18 km/h; that’s 3 km more than we promised you in the Indiegogo campaign! Yes, we like to give you more than we promised 😉

Next Steps

Videos

Some of the feedback we got from the survey was that you guys wanted more videos. Your wish is our command! It looks like the sun will be joining us this weekend, so we’re planning to shoot various videos about the remote control, about Linky riding over a very bumpy road so you can see just how sturdy it is, some riding modes, etc. If you have a special request for a video, post it on our Facebook page and we’ll do our best. 🙂

Testing, testing, testing

We’ll be doing more testing with both the battery pack and the new prototype. After all, we want to give you all a perfect product, so we better make sure to test every possible situation. 🙂

That’s all for now! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for more photos and we’ll be back with the next update soon.

Cheers,

The Linky Team

  1. Hi guys,
there are many electric skateboards extending their range by recharging the battery while breaking. Why don´t you offer the same technologie? I like your product, but like that the competition has an advantage. I am shure you can copy that idea and make Linky perfect. Also the remote controll should be a sliding button, to allow changing the speed to which ever speed is momentary nesesary and to controle the amount of exceleration a bit, too. I am shure you know what I mean. Thanks and good luck. You are a great team.

    All the best

    • Hi Rubin,

actually, Linky recharges its battery while braking. The remote has a joystick rather than a slider button, we think this is a more ergonomic solution. You can find the same feature in every popular console remote controller.

      cheers.
