Our Story: The Journey of Linky Innovation
The Spark (2014)
It all started in 2014. Paolo, working as a designer at Ducati Motor Holding and fueled by a deep passion for electric mobility, began experimenting with a unique folding system. His vision was clear: to create an electric vehicle so compact it could easily be carried in a backpack. Driven by the desire to develop a mobility solution that combined absolute freedom and pure fun for daily city commuting, he integrated this folding mechanism into an electric skateboard. That was the exact moment the idea of Linky was born.
From the Garage to the World
To truly understand if this idea could change the way people commute, it had to be tested in the real world. Trips to Istanbul and Edinburgh proved to be the ultimate testing grounds, verifying the absolute necessity of Linky as the perfect travel companion. Soon after, the very first functional prototype was built using prototyping materials.
As the dream grew, the team did too. Cristiano, Stefano, and Giovanni joined Paolo, bringing new skills and energy. Together, they spent countless days and nights in a garage, engineering, testing, and developing new prototypes.
The Launch of Linky 1.0 (2016-2017)
In 2016, Linky Innovation was officially founded. Thus began the wild adventure of fundraising. The team took the world by storm, launching successful campaigns on Kickstarter and Indiegogo, and pitching in numerous Business Plan competitions. Their hard work and vision caught the eye of Rancilio Cube, who became their first professional investor. By 2017, the sales success was undeniable: mass production kicked off, and Linky 1.0 officially hit the streets around the globe.
The Setback and the Comeback
Just as the company was riding high, the COVID-19 pandemic struck, bringing operations to a grinding halt and grounding the company. It was a massive blow, but giving up was never in the Linky DNA.
The comeback was fueled by resilience and new believers. "Fondazione Marche" stepped in as a new investor, joined by Fabrizio Lunazzi and others who saw the true potential of the project and the team.
The Dream: Made in Italy
With new life breathed into the company, a new, ambitious dream took shape: bringing the production of Linky entirely to Italy. After winning the "Smart & Start" grant, the team found the perfect manufacturing partners right in the Marche region, forming strategic alliances with SP PLAST and R13 Technology.
Linky 2.0 & Beyond (2024-2025)
The result of this incredible journey is Linky 2.0. Featuring a sleek new design, an upgraded remote, and even more power, it was rigorously tested and optimized for the ultimate riding experience. In 2024, Linky 2.0 achieved another massive success on Kickstarter.
By 2025, production officially began in Falerone. For us, this wasn't just about manufacturing skateboards; it was about the dream of creating a positive economic and social impact in a territory that had been devastated by recent earthquakes.
